I know I’m guilty of that as well, where I set my sights high then stress and overwork and burnout in a few weeks. Which is why I’m trying to change what I’m actually striving for, because I can still put in the same amount of effort, but if it’s towards hobbies I love and relationships with people I care about, I don’t have that same overworked and burnt out feeling!

I appreciate where you’re going and think you’re right, aiming for 100% riches is probably wrong. But I think this should be reframed to still aim at 100. Instead of riches, redefine whatever “success” is for you. Maybe it's being a great business person, or super well-published academic, or the best and most involved parent you can be. Whatever fits your fancy as success, will be different from someone else, and that's ok. But still shoot for 100 to be the best version that you can be.

Thanks for your comment Jacob and apologies for the delayed reply.

I agree its certainly how we define "success". Its likely a personal thing for me where if I set my sights at 100, I get taken by the wave, overcommit and burn out. Its a sort of paradox I guess, where I want to aim for 100 to be the best version of myself, but I know in pursuit of this, I'm less relaxed, less social, and less happy. Perhaps its not always a straight-aim to 100, but sometimes this can fluctuate based on other characteristics of life at a given time.

Thanks again for your comment, and for getting me thinking!
