Healing begins when you acknowledge your pain.
Healing - The process of becoming well again.
Acknowledgement - Acceptance of the truth or existence of something.
Pain - A distressing feeling, often caused by intense or damaging stimuli.
A prerequisite to healing is being honest with ourselves. What are we truly feeling, and why are we feeling this way? If we push these feelings down, they can grow, and this can present itself in distress, be it emotional, mental, or physical.
When we acknowledge our pain, we free up the space that was occupied by our surprised feelings. In this created space, we can begin to validate and process our pain. Upon deeper reflection, we can search for the deeper causes and meanings for our pain.
Acknowledging pain doesn’t heal us, but it is the first step towards healing. If we face pain, it transforms from a burden to an opportunity for growth.
