Isn’t it fascinating how every single person on Earth lives in their own world, in which they’re the main character?
It’s a difficult thing to even begin to comprehend. As we have around 70,000 thoughts a day, so does everybody else. We reflect inward, often not considering how other people are thinking or feeling. It’s difficult.
But everyone out there has an entire world. Their own imagination, their own dreams, consciousness, soul, and feelings.
Considering this, it makes the entire world slow down a little. Every single one of these people has problems. And they’re incomparable. It doesn’t matter if one person's problem would be another person's dream. We all have issues. If we consider the enormity of the world, it lessens our importance within it. We are not important. We are not unique. That can be liberating, not painful.
We run around life at 100 miles per hour, motivated by our goals and dreams. In the scenario where we don’t choose our own goals and dreams, we’re wrongly motivated by the expectations of others. We need to slow down. We can find peace and tranquillity in these moments of understanding. It’s almost illuminating. We feel at one with the moment. Completely in it. Invisible to anybody else.
It’s like we rise above the inconsequential happenings around us. We see them for what they are. Meaningless. Seneca says that when we are rushing, we are rushing towards death. Why? We can’t take anything with us. Of course, we can make a difference while we’re here with people we love and who love us back. This highlights the importance of the moment. So go out there and live it. Focus always on the present. Say yes. Be brave. Be present. Focus on the moment.
As I write this on May 27th, I find myself enjoying the sunshine in a park in the city. People walk past me, and hundreds of others sit in the park. I’m invisible to most except the most observant. I quite like being invisible.
Everyone is experiencing their own moments. It gives me enormous clarity on what’s really important. One such important thing is taking a moment to slow down. I do that through writing. It helps me get my thoughts out. Express my feelings. I’ve never been particularly good at that. But none of that particularly matters to you. And it shouldn’t. It does enforce the point however to find how you can slow down. What helps you express yourself and empowers you? What makes you feel at peace? Go out and find it. Find your moment.
